Grayson Hauser is an electric guitarist and singer playing an expansive brand of high-energy music ranging from blues, hard rock, funk, jazz and many points in between. From gentle, thoughtful explorations of impressionistic ambient sounds to unabashed beer-hoisting bar rock, Hauser is committed to exploring all the possibilities the guitar has to offer. His musical philosophy is fairly simple: no trends or hype, just honest, soulful music that anyone can connect with.
Playing in various bands in the San Francisco Bay Area, the young guitarist played a variety of music in just about every venue including Biscuits and Blues, Slim’s, the Boom Boom Room, and Yoshi’s. He began his professional career at the age of 20, sitting in with Ed Ivey and his Fat Tuesday Band at Biscuits and Blues. He worked his way into becoming a regular member of the band, playing venues across the Bay Area as well as weddings, corporate events, and private parties. Grayson also cut his teeth as a sideman for local blues and R&B artists such as Edna Love, Alvin Draper, Big Jim Sprankle, and Johnny Domino. This was an important time in his formation as a musician, becoming comfortable playing rhythm and lead guitar in a wide variety of genres and contexts. Playing electric blues guitar, acoustic folk and country gigs, even a stint playing the bass drum in a New Orleans brass band, has given Grayson a rich palette of experience to draw upon when creating music of his own.
After a spell in the Army, Hauser returned to playing and teaching music in the Bay Area full time. Wanting a fresh start and the opportunity to embark on a solo career, he moved across the country to Athens, Georgia in the summer of 2018. The emerging songwriter, bandleader, arranger, guitarist and singer went into the studio with legendary Athens engineer and producer John Keane in the beginning of 2019 to record his debut full-length album, “The Blues of a Distant Earth.” Grayson has released 3 more albums since then, showing a dedication to steady creative output.
In addition to his solo career Hauser has collaborated with local Athens artists such as Deaf Condors, Julia Nyunt, and Will Shine. He continues to live in Athens playing, recording, and collaborating with the local music community.
